Quadruped Robot JY is an intelligent educational quadruped robot designed for students and researchers from primary, secondary and tertiary educational markets. JY has an open platform and Software Development Kit (SDK) to support further customized development; it has multi-model movements, localisation, navigation and perception. JY can be adapted to complex new environments and has the ability to resist external disturbances, whilst in operation. JY has 4 legs, each leg has 3 Degrees of Freedom (DOFs), in total 12 DOFs, with each DOF consisting of a large power DC motor, a precision reduction mechanism and a high-precision encoder. JY can provide sufficient power to each joint of the legs, it also has good control performance and can provide accurate angle information to meet the needs of developing various gait movements and control. The torso part of the JY consists of a motion controller, a sensing module, an electrical-sensing system and a high-speed communication bus. JY supports the Robot Operating System (ROS) and it is an ideal platform for education and research.
